The Society for Design Administration (SDA) is a national organization created to promote the exchange of information and ideas and to educate its members in the related disciplines of design firm administration. Started over fifty years ago, the SDA is affiliated with the American Institute of Architects (AIA). As the AIA is there for the educational, networking and social aspects for architects, the SDA serves the non-technical person. Are you an Administrative Assistant or Manager? Or do you handle the firm's marketing, finance or HR needs? If so, you need to know about the Society for Design Administration and the Orange County Chapter. Invest in your future and expand your horizons through the assistance of the SDA!
Membership in the Orange County Chapter is your key to continuing education in specific areas related to your field. A variety of topics are covered at our monthly lunchtime seminars during the year. Seminars include both guest speakers and roundtable forums for sharing educational information. Topics cover the six professional educational groups (PEGs) - Office Administration, Marketing, Finance, Human Resources, Project Management and Information Technologies. The speakers offer the latest information on their area of expertise - which can be taken back to the office and applied immediately to your daily operations. Our membership is comprised of a dynamic group of people who have different backgrounds and job responsibilities, working for a variety of local architectural or design-related firms, and they also serve as a great source of knowledge for other members.
In addition to providing a friendly, professional atmosphere on the local level from which to glean new information directly related to your chosen field, SDA provides members with opportunities to interact and participate with other members of the SDA, at the regional and national level and learn more about what is happening in their field throughout the rest of the country. The SDA chapters across the nation allow firms with more than one office the benefit of membership through many area chapters. You, and your firm, can both benefit from an association with the SDA.
